Artist Statement:
My paintings explore the systems we impose on our creativity processes. I’m impulsive and create impulsively, using my formal facilities to build compositions that play with the tensions of self-critique, humor and the art-making process. Each painting or digital work is meant to interact with the other pieces alongside of them. Installation art is a vehicle to create visual manifestations of internal narratives about the art making process and current societal stressors.
My anxiety pushes me to create and express the energies inside and around me, often manifesting into abstract forms or patterns or child-like whimsical compositions. I want the presence of my gesture to be aggressively present, to butt into a situation and linger.
